the product

Here at WanderLittles, with our advice for traveling while nursing or pumping and our forthcoming Airport Nursing Room Locator, we support traveling nursing mothers. And so does My Brest Friend, quite literally. To be honest, I remember laughing about the name of the product with my husband a thousand years ago when we were strolling down the aisles of Buy Buy Baby registering for baby items, blissfully unaware of the realities of breastfeeding difficulties (namely, how to manage with only 2 arms when you need to support a young baby and get her latched correctly so your parts do not feel like they are on FIRE).

Fast forward 5 years, and when I told my husband about My Brest Friend coming out with an inflatable travel pillow, he responded, "Genius!"

Oh how times have changed.

See, when I had my first daughter, I had a terrible time nursing her until my lactation consultant hooked me up with a My Brest Friend. Let me tell you, it is so much better than the Boppy. The MBF actually keeps baby in the right spot for nursing without rolling in or out, or being too low (a strap actually snaps around your rib cage to keep the pillow where it needs to be). It makes you feel a little better about only having two hands when evolution clearly should have given nursing mothers at least six or so.

BUT I have distinct memories of having to lug it on road trips and into hotels and on airplanes when my littles were really little. Big, bulky, cumbersome, although in a very pretty pattern. What I wouldn't have given for a travel version!

So that is why even my husband can recognize how fantastic the My Brest Friend travel pillow is (especially when he was the one actually lugging it around for me-- how masculine!). It inflates, so no big bulky pillow, and it folds up to be about the size of 2 bottles when flat. My Brest Friend actually sent me one to check out for you guys, and I can tell you it is SO worth it if you are a traveling mama.

It's small. Like really small. Like you honestly will have room in your carry-on small.

Some tips: As you can see, the pillow comes with two pieces: the inflatable part and the cover. Only inflate the pillow halfway before putting the cover on, and then finish filling it up so you do not have problems getting the cover on if you accidentally do overinflate. Just trying to save you a bit of frustration there!

Also, we have heard that if you are taking this on a plane, do not inflate 100% before takeoff. Cabin pressure can be funny and you do not want it to overinflate with that, either.

We bought a travel My Brest Friend before visiting family in England when our baby was 3 months. So worth it!

So great to hear! Would love to hear how the trip went! One thing going for travel that young is that they do sleep so much.

I have a regular MBF pillow and love it. I like the pillow hump for the baby's head.

For the inflatable one, do you have to blow it up with your mouth? Does it take long to inflate? Is it like a pool raft?
